Located in the agricultural northwest of the island of La Gomera, Agulo is known as the "green balcony". The Meriga Forest is part of UNESCO's World Heritage Site, and is part of the Garajonay National Park. The main crop cultivated are bananas. Agulo is also home to the Mirador de Abrante visitor attraction which offers a stunning view point from a glass floored viewing section in a moutain towering high above the village.
